The Beauty of
the Everyday
With BAINA, Bailey Meredith and Anna Fahey have created a toweling line that stylizes bathroom accessories into icons of everyday life—with attention to detail, sustainability, and tangible quality.
(Everyday Beauty) Sometimes all it takes is a second glance at the obvious to create something new. So it was for two New Zealand friends who decided to devote their full attention to a mostly overlooked everyday product: the towel.
Bailey Meredith and Anna Fahey both come from the fashion industry and met while working for a New Zealand fashion label. They shared a passion for design and aesthetics right from the start and quickly found a gap in the market for high-quality, beautifully designed bathroom towels. In 2019, they took the plunge and founded BAINA. In doing so, they gave toweling a new meaning—sensual, sustainable, and beautiful in their quiet presence. These are bathroom necessities that feel like a plea for mindfulness in everyday life, focusing on reduction without sacrificing the essentials.
BAINA’s textile designs are characterized by geometric patterns, harmonious colors, and a calm, almost meditative aura. The designers are inspired by architecture, art, and the aesthetics of minimalism. Each towel is a small work of bathroom art, with a presence so large that it almost transforms the space in which it is used.
What stands out is the high standard of haptics and workmanship. The towels feel soft yet non-slip, they dry efficiently, and retain their shape even after many washes. Each product is manufactured exclusively in Portugal—a country with a centuries-old tradition in textile production. The cotton used comes exclusively from controlled organic cultivation, the factories are GOTS-certified, and fair working conditions are par for the course. The packaging is also consciously reduced: plastic-free, recyclable, and in harmony with the product itself.
It is precisely this attitude that has quickly brought the young label international attention. BAINA is now available in selected concept stores and has long been an integral part of many design-conscious households and selected boutique hotels. This project shows how even simple, everyday things can be charged with pure beauty.
